Collection for Retired Religious

Pulpit Announcement: Elderly Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests need your help. Many served for years in Catholic schools, hospitals, and parishes—often for little to no pay. Now there is a shortage in retirement savings. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious provides funding for medications, nursing care, and more. Please give to those who have given a lifetime.

Bulletin Announcement for Week of Collection: Help religious communities. “Your generous contribution helps us to care for our retired sisters and enables our younger sisters to continue in active ministry,” writes a religious sister. Your gift to today’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide medications, nursing care, and more for thousands of senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works of their elders!

Bulletin Announcement for Week After Collection: Religious give thanks. A religious sister writes, “When we see the generous response of so many thousands of persons in order to help us, religious men and women, we are left speechless.” Senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests across the country send heartfelt thanks and prayers for your donation to last week’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection.

November is Celebrate Adoption Month

In our country there are three legal options in unplanned pregnancies but only two give hope and promise. Adoption is the least utilized choice today for teens and women facing crisis pregnancies. Please consider keeping these women in your prayers so that they may see their self worth and the worth of their unborn child. Caring Choices Adoption and Pregnancy Program is a program of Catholic Charities that provides pregnancy counseling for parenting or adoption support and placement services. For more information, visit www.ccpregnancyservices.org or call (866) 901-9647. Consider purchasing a “Choose Life” license plate. All proceeds stay in your county and assist pregnant women making an adoption plan. For more information go to http://flchoose-life.org

Out Lady of Good Counsel Food Pantry Needs Van

In order to expand and reach more people and families in need, Our Lady of Good Counsel Food Pantry, located on SR 16 in St. Augustine, needs a new or gently used large van to pick up and deliver meat and produce from the Feeding Northeast Florida Food Bank in Jacksonville. Access to this food will enable us to nearly double our program and reach more of our less fortunate brothers, sisters and children, shut-ins, the elderly and those without transportation, supplying them with good nutritious meals. This van will truly make a difference in our Community Outreach Food Pantry Program. Your donation is tax-deductible within the confines of the law. If you are interested in generously donating a van, please call the parish at 904-824-8688 and speak to our pastor, Father Guy Noonan.
