The Diocese of St. Augustine is pleased to host the winners and finalists from this year’s National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) top Talent Contest, for a performance in Jacksonville on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m., at Bishop John J. Snyder High School.

The 10 high school students were the top finalists from the 2013 NCYC Top Talent competition, which attracted thousands of teens from around the U.S. The judges included well-known music producers and recording artists: Sal Solo, Joia Farmer and Tony Melendez.

Each year, students from around the country represent their diocese at the annual conference, which includes the talent competition.

Two teens from our diocese—students at Bishop Snyder High School—entered the talent competition last year. Charlotte Gassett and Matthew Harris were both recognized for their musical talents. Charlotte sings while Matthew plays the piano and guitar. Charlotte placed second in the competition and was offered the opportunity to record three songs in Chicago this summer for a Christian music label. She will be performing at the event on Aug. 9.
