The 2014 St. Michael’s Soldiers American Heroes Award Dinner is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Tally Auditorium at St. Joseph’s Cody Enrichment Center in Jacksonville. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner and the program begin at 7 p.m.

Each year, the St. Michael’s Soldiers, a nonprofit organization that supports deployed and returning service men and women, by providing “Home Sweet Home” care packages and coordinating welcome home celebrations, honors local heroes with a reception and dinner.

This year’s event is presented by Fields Auto Group, with keynote speaker is Ron Young, Jr., an American POW, 2003 Invasion of Iraq and special guest 1st Lt. Ryan Timoney.

Other guests include the Jacksonville Jaguars Brad Meester and musicians Johnny and Donnie Van Zant.

Also, St. Michael’s Soldiers supports returning local wounded troops with financial assistance as they try to make ends meet during treatment and rehabilitation, as well as other support such as transportation to medical appointments, etc.

And, as a way to thank our troops for their sacrifice, St. Michael’s Soldiers provide sporting and concert tickets, and arranges meetings with performers and athletes.
