Conference challenges men to take their faith to the next level
August 25, 2014 • Diocese of St. Augustine

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]More than 800 men of all different ages got a shot of motivation and more at the supercharged, 2014 Catholic Men’s Conference held on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Wyndham Riverwalk Hotel in Jacksonville.

8B5H4540-300x222Bishop Felipe J. Estévez opened the conference with Mass, and challenged the participants to exercise their leadership by fighting cultural relativism in a contemporary society.

Nationally known speakers at the daylong event included Jesuit Father Mitchell Pacwa, TV and radio host on Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) and founder of Ignatius Productions; Father Larry Richards, founder and president of The Reason for Hope Foundation, and Doug Barry, founder of RADIX, an organization that inspires people to recognize their God-given talents and put them to good use.

The purpose of the biannual conference is to encourage men to take their faith to “the next level,” by giving them the tools to help them practice the elements of our Catholic faith in their daily lives – in society, work and as husbands and fathers.

Father Pacwa echoed Bishop Estevez’ homily about relativism, and said men today have so many distractions and struggle with many “cultural conflicts.”
