38th Annual Faith Formation Day will Center on the Eucharist

Registration is now open for the 38th Annual Faith Formation Day on Oct. 1, at Bishop John J. Snyder High School in Jacksonville. Join Bishop Erik Pohlmeier and Catholics from around the diocese who want to learn more about their faith. Sponsored by the Christian Formation Office of the Diocese of St. Augustine, the theme is “My flesh for the life of the world,” or “Mi carne para la vida del mundo.”

The theme comes from John 6:51 and mirrors that of the National Eucharistic Revival, a three-year initiative that aims to inspire, educate, and unite Catholics by “enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.”

This year, keynote speaker Joe Paprocki will focus on what it means to be a Eucharistic People and how we, especially during the Eucharistic Revival, can help others to see the Eucharist as the “gift of the finest wheat” that alone satisfies hungry hearts. Paprocki has a doctorate of ministry from St. Mary of the Lake University and is a national consultant for faith formation at Loyola Press.

The event will also include sessions on the Eucharist and liturgy from local Catholic speakers in English and Spanish that are open to all in the diocese to attend. For clergy only, Bishop Pohlmeier will be leading a morning session workshop on how to build a foundation of lifelong faith in the Church.

Director of Christian Formation Office, Erin McGeever, said that the faithful of the Diocese of St. Augustine spoke overwhelmingly on the centrality of the Eucharist in their lives in every discernment session of the Synod on Synodality.

“We should always be ready to expand our understanding of the Eucharist,” said McGeever. “And attending this year’s Faith Formation Day can help us grow in our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.”

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., with Mass celebrated by Bishop Pohlmeier at 9:30 a.m., followed by a light breakfast and session talks until 2:45 p.m. Cost is $25 per person including breakfast and lunch.
