Bishop Snyder High School Hosts National Geographic GeoBee Diocesan Championship

The National Geographic GeoBee Diocesan Championship was held on Saturday, February 27, at Bishop John J. Snyder High School. Seventeen students, representing nine diocesan schools, participated in the fourth annual event. Dr. Ray Oldakowski, Florida’s National Geographic GeoBee State Chair, moderated the competition.

Thomas Winkler, a seventh-grader from Palmer Catholic Academy, won the championship round and received a gold medal and $250. Braden Green, a seventh-grader from St. Patrick’s – Gainesville, received the runner-up silver medal and $100.

Other participants were Alex Humphrey and Ryan Lydon from Annunciation, Will Johnson and Griffin White from Assumption, Sawyer Tart from Palmer Catholic Academy, Amanda Frederick and Vannessa Njeru from Queen of Peace Academy, Johnny O’Donnell from St. Patrick – Gainesville, Saoirse Comeford and Davilynn Veres from St. Patrick – Jacksonville, Tripp Russell and Landon Thorwart from St. Paul – Jacksonville Beach, Ronan Little from St. Paul – Riverside, and Anthony Marku and Christian Ricks from San Jose.
