People in Mexico, the United States and right here in the Diocese of St. Augustine will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, Dec. 12. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico and Patroness of the Americas. Her feast day commemorates her apparition to St. Juan Diego in Tepeyac, Mexico in 1531, where she asked him to tell his bishop that the Ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of God, sent him to ask for a church to be built atop the hill where she appeared.
