Back to School with the Help of Saints!
August 1, 2023 • Diocese of St. Augustine

By Jessica Larson

As summer comes to an end, we might feel a sense of nostalgia for all the memories made over the past few months. From lazy days spent lounging on the beach to impromptu road trips with family, this summer has been full of adventures and new experiences. As the long summer days end, let’s prepare ourselves, with the help of the saints, to realign our minds and hearts to the Lord and the wisdom we find within schoolwork.

St. Jerome, patron saint of Biblical scholars, librarians, students and translators, help us to align our hearts with you, Lord. Let us come to know you more through your sacred words in scripture. St. Thomas Aquinas, patron saint of universities and students, let the work we accomplish bring the Lord greater glory. St. Aloysius Gonzaga, patron saint of Catholic young people, let our lives diligently pursue holiness. St John Bosco, patron saint of apprentices, schoolchildren and juvenile delinquents, guide us in ordering our activities for the greater good.
