A Joyous Easter Message from Bishop Pohlmeier
March 27, 2024 • Diocese of St. Augustine

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we journey through Holy Week, I am filled with anticipation and gratitude for these days of grace. This week, we are called to walk alongside our Savior as he makes his way to the cross, and ultimately, to his glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday. We are called to lay our burdens upon his cross so that we can also take up his new life.

Holy Week invites us to a deep reflection and contemplation, meditating on the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for each of us. It is an opportunity to enter the mystery of his passion, death and resurrection, allowing ourselves to be transformed by his immense love for us.

As we accompany Jesus on his journey to Calvary, let us embrace the darkness of his suffering without fear. Through his suffering, we find redemption, and through his death, we find new life. Let us unite our sufferings to him, knowing he walks with us every step of the way. We also repent of those sins that add to his cross. We call on his mercy that reconcile us.

Approaching Easter Sunday, let us rejoice in the triumph of life over death and light over darkness. In his resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and death, opening the gates of heaven for all who believe in him.

May this Holy Week be a time of spiritual renewal and transformation for each of us. May we open our hearts to receive the abundant graces God has for us, emerging from this sacred season with a deeper understanding of his love and a renewed commitment to living out our faith.

May God bless you and all those dear to this Holy Week and Easter. May the Risen Lord fill you with peace and joy.

In Christ,

Most Rev. Erik T. Pohlmeier

Bishop of St. Augustine
