As a junior at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Nick Ferry is not only a scholar athlete and a member of the weightlifting team, but he is also a member of the North Florida Gymnastics team in Orange Park.

Nick shares that he began his run with gymnastics around age 10. His sister was a cheerleader and she taught him how to do cartwheels, which the family was surprised to learn that Nick was quite good at. Soon thereafter he began his beloved sport and has only continued to excel as a gymnast.

In April, Nick competed in the 2016 USA Gymnastics Regional Championships at Jekyll Island, Ga. There he participated in events including, floor, pommel horse, rings, high bar, parallel bar, and vault.

Clearly he is good at more than cartwheels.

Throughout high school, Nick was involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society; a Catholic organization involving service to the less fortunate. Despite his fruitful involvement at Bishop Kenny, Nick claims Holy Family Catholic School is, “really where I got my roots from.”

Nick’s love for competitive gymnastics will soon come to a timely end as he wishes to focus on other things in college. Nick hopes to pursue a business/entrepreneurial studies degree from the University of Central Florida in the fall with the long term goal of owning his own business someday.
