The Power of Epiphany
January 6 @ 9:30 am to 9:30 pm
Epiphany means hope and joyful revelation. Together we will consider Julian of Norwich’s message of hope. Julian was a fourteenth-century mystic who lived in a church cell called an anchorage. She chose that life to reflect on her own epiphany. In Revelations of Divine Love, the first known book to be published in English by a woman, Julian reveals to us the story of that life-saving experience.
- How did Julian go from her deathbed visions of Jesus on the cross
to those famed words: “All shall be well?”
- What does Epiphany mean for us today amidst the darkness of
the lingering pandemic on the dawn of the new year upon us?
This one-day retreat will take us on a virtual pilgrimage to Julian’s anchorage with Charlene Marie Laure Vincent. In 2019, six months before the pandemic shuttered the world, Charlene made a solo pilgrimage to the anchorage in Norwich, England. She shares that experience in her recent book: Return from Exile, Revelations from an Anchoress in St. Augustine.
The facilitator holds a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Boston University School of Theology and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Episcopal Divinity School. She organizes and leads small spiritual writing groups and retreats. Her recent book is the second in her Serendipity Series.
